Jesus
was conceived Hanukkah
and was born Feast of Tabernacles?
top
When was the Messiah born? The “light” which brings
eternal life was most likely conceived in late
December, when the pagan winter solstice was
celebrated. As the daytime hours shortened, and
darkness of the night lengthened, pagan sun
worshipers turned their focus on renewal of the
sun’s daytime dominance as they feared that the sun
would pass from the Heavens. Ra, the Egyptian sun
god, was regarded as the one who brings life to
mankind. Interesting is that Yeshua Jesus was
conceived at the zenith of the Roman Mithraicism
celebration of the notorious 24th of December, the
venerated day of the sun god, Sol Invinctus, which
that year coincided with the Jewish Hanukkah
celebration.
The Birth of Yeshua Jesus
An easy to document, but not well known fact, is the
date of the birth of Yeshua Jesus. This is done by
establishing several things:
(1) The date that the angel Gabriel tells the
Levitical priest Zechariah, the soon to be father of
John the Baptist, about his son's birth. (The date
of Birth of John the Baptist (Yochanan) is
established by going forward nine months from this
date (i.e. length of a term pregnancy).
(2) The approximate date of Miriam's (Mary's)
conception is 6 months later as Yeshua Jesus is
John’s cousin and Jesus is 6 months younger than
John the Baptist.)
(3) The date of Herod's death is 4 BC sometime
within 40 days after Yeshua Jesus was born.
The date that the angel Gabriel told Zechariah that
he and his wife were going to have son is
established from the following. Luke 1.5 states that
Zechariah is a priest of the course of Abijah. King
David, according to I Chronicles 24:1-19, had
divided the priestly families into twenty four
groups. Each group was called a course, and named
after the head of that particular family. Each
course served for one week in the first half of the
year and for another week the second half of the
year. This was in addition to the weeks of Passover,
Pentecost (Shavuot), and Sukkot, when all the
courses were required and all priests were to be
present (Deuteronomy 16.16). I Chronicles 24.10 list
the course of Abijah as the eighth course. The
religious year begins in Nisan. Since the week of
Passover and Pentecost (Shavuot) occur before the
8th week designated for Abijah’s course, the family
would now serve their course in the tenth week of
the first half of the year (having allowed one week
each for Passover and Shavuot).
Due to the laws of separation forElizabeth
(Leviticus 12.5; 15.19,25), an additional two weeks
have to be counted to include all factors except the
biology of the menstrual cycle. Ten weeks plus two
from Nisan would be 12 weeks (3 months 8 days),
which would include the Hebrew months of Nisan to
early or mid Tammuz when conception occurred. Taking
this starting point and going forward nine months
for a normal pregnancy, the time of John the
Baptist’s birth would be approximately Passover in
Nisan. Counting Tammuz to Ab = 1 month, then onward
from August to April = 9 months or Nissan.
Prophetically, on Abba’s calendar, Passover is the
time when Elijah is expected to appear. It is during
the family’s Temple course in Tammuz (June) that
Zechariah receives the prophecy of John’s (Yochanan's)
birth.
Luke 1:5-13 (KJV) 5 There was in the days of Herod,
the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias,
of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the
daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. 6
And they were both righteous before God, walking in
all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord
blameless. 7 And they had no child, because that
Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well
stricken in years. 8 And it came to pass, that while
he executed the priest’s office before God in the
order of his course, 9 According to the custom of
the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense
when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10 And the
whole multitude of the people were praying without
at the time of incense. 11 And there appeared unto
him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side
of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw
him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13 But
the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for
thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall
bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Thus, it came to pass in this the first half of the
year, that Zacharias executed his priestly office
responsibility before God in the order of his
family’s course, according to Levitical custom. His
lot was to burn incense in the Temple of the Lord,
an honor that occurs only once in a Levitical
priest’s life time. A multitude of the people was
outside praying at the time of incense offering.
There appeared unto Zechariah an angel of the Lord
standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
When Zechariah saw him, he was troubled, and fear
fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not
Zechariah: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife
Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call
his name Yochanan (John).
Six months following Elizabeth's conception, the
angel Gabriel is sent to Miriam (Mary), the cousin
of Elizabeth and she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
(see Luke 1:26-33). Since John the Baptist most
likely was born on Passover (the 14 Nisan) plus 6
months we are at Kislev (Chislev) (December) when
Mary became with child.. Starting at Chanukah, which
begins on Kislev 25 and continues for eight days,
and counting through the nine months of Miriam's
pregnancy brings one to the approximate time of the
fall feasts. Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) in Tishri (September) is the
most prophetic of these feasts for His Birth as He
"tabernacled" as man with us.
In September the Levitical sheep flock is pastured
on the hills of Bethlehem just east of the mount of
Olives. Their winter sheep mangers are in Bethlehem
where Jesus was born in a “sukkah” (stable, manger)
most likely at the ingathering Feast of Sukkot.
Noteworthy, is the humor of the Holy Spirit in that
The Lamb of God was born in the Levitical sheep’s
mangers and that the swaddling clothes may have been
the “worn” white robes of the Levitical priests. In
December it is winter in Bethlehem with even snow;
at this season, the sheep are manger-fed and are not
in the pastures.
Hence, we see that the time of Yeshua Jesus’
conception and birth is established according to the
calculation of the birth of John the Baptist based
on the Levitical schedule of 24 priestly courses of
Temple duty. Zechariah, being of the family of
Abijah, served the 8th course in the Temple (1
Chronicles 24:10). Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant
when Mary conceived the only begotten Son of God by
the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:36). Interesting is that
John the Baptist was born in month of Nissan and
Yeshua Jesus in Tishri. The former heralding in the
spring feasts and the latter dominating the fall
feasts. Two differing opinions place His birth
either at Yom Teruah vs. Sukkoth. Yom Teruah is 267
days from 25 December (average length of gestation).
This is not a good time on the Hebrew calendar for
travel as Yom Teruah (Rosh HaShannah) begins the
awesome Days of Awe when Jews are examining
themselves with repentance for the next 10 days.
These are the most high holy days on the Jewish
calendar. It is a solemn not joyful time. This is
not a practical time to mobilize the Jews for
taxation. However, the Sukkoth date best fits. Most
likely this Fall Festival was the taxation time set
by Caesar Augustus being one of the 3 occasions when
all Jewish males were required to come to Jerusalem.
This would be at the end of the harvest season
before winter and would not interfere with the
Jewish solemn High holy days of the Feast of
Trumpets.
Luke 2:1-7 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went
out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the
world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first
made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all
went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of
Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which
is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house
and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his
espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it
was, that, while they were there, the days were
accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she
brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in
swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because
there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:8-9 (KJV)
8 And there were in the same country shepherds
abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock
by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon
them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about
them: and they were sore afraid.
Again note, Christ was not born in the winter month
of December but in the fall, as the sheep were in
the fields not in mangers. They were out grazing in
the fields by day and night and not being fed hay
and grains of manger life. The Messiah was born in
their Sukkah or bedding place for sheep. He came to
tabernacle amongst us as the light in a dark sinful
world. In a world under the curses of death of the
Torah, Christ came to give everlasting life to all
who call upon His Name and believe that He is the
risen Messiah.
John 1:14(KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt (tabernacled) among us, (and we beheld his
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.
Also at the Feast of Tabernacle is the daily
water-pouring Priestly ceremony to bring “living
water” to the sacrificial altar. John 7:37-39 (KJV)
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus
stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him
come unto me, and drink . 38 He that believeth on
me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly
shall flow rivers of living water . 39 (But this
spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on
him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet
given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
He was the LIGHT to a fallen world. This Feast of
Tabernacles (Sukkot) is also known as the
celebration of the Feast of Lights.John 8:12(KJV)
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the
light of the world: he that followeth me shall not
walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 9:5(KJV) “As long as I am in the world, I am
the light of the world.” Isaiah 49:5-6(KJV) And now,
saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be
his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though
Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in
the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my
strength. 6 And he said, It is a light thing that
thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes
of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I
will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles,
that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the
earth
Again, the Festival of Lights is a Hebrew mini-drama
reenacting prophecy. As evening approaches, four 50
cubit giant Menorahs (about 75 feet tall) are lit to
light not only the Temple mount but also a large
part of Jerusalem. Young men constantly refuel the
lamps with olive oil. The wicks are made from
worn-out white linen garments of the Priests, called
swaddling clothes. Celebration begins at dusk and
leads into the wakening hours of the morning. All
night the priests perform impressive torch dances
amidst joyous festivities and trumpet blasts. The
brilliant light emulating from the steady yellow
flames of the giant menorahs inundate the Temple and
streets of Jerusalem with illumination.
Light is life; it partitions good from evil. In the
scriptures understanding light and darkness is the
key to understanding the Plan of God. Even yet
future, in the Olam Haba, we shall see His Glory as
the Light of the eternal city, the New Jerusalem.
Isaiah 60:18-21(KJV) Violence shall no more be heard
in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy
borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation,
and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more
thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the
moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be
unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy
glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither
shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall
be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy
mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be
all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever,
the branch of my planting, the work of my hands,
that I may be glorified.
Revelation 21:22-25(KJV) And I saw no temple
therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are
the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the
sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the
glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the
light thereof. 24 And the nations of them which are
saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings
of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by
day: for there shall be no night there.

Leviticus 22:26-23:44
Leviticus 23:1-22 (KJV) 1 And the LORD spake unto
Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel,
and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the
LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy
convocations, even these are my feasts. 3 Six days
shall work be done: but the seventh day is the
sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no
work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all
your dwellings. 4 These are the feasts of the LORD,
even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in
their seasons. 5 In the fourteenth day of the first
month at even is the LORD’S passover. 6 And on the
fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of
unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must
eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day ye shall
have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile
work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made
by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day
is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work
therein. 9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 10
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto
them, When ye be come into the land which I give
unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then
ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your
harvest unto the priest: 11 And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on
the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave
it. 12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the
sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year
for a burnt offering unto the LORD. 13 And the meat
offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine
flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire
unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink
offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part
of an hin. 14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor
parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day
that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it
shall be a statute for ever throughout your
generations in all your dwellings. 15 And ye shall
count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath,
from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave
offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 16 Even
unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye
number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat
offering unto the LORD. 17 Ye shall bring out of
your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals:
they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken
with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs
without blemish of the first year, and one young
bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt
offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering,
and their drink offerings, even an offering made by
fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD. 19 Then ye
shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin
offering, and two lambs of the first year for a
sacrifice of peace offerings. 20 And the priest
shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits
for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two
lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the
priest. 21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame
day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye
shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a
statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout
your generations. 22 And when ye reap the harvest of
your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the
corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither
shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou
shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger:
I am the LORD your God.

named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the
publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see
Jesus who he was; and could not for the press,
because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran

him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus
came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and
said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down;
for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made
haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7

John 12:1-3 (KJV) Then Jesus six days before the
passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which
had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2 There
they made him a supper; and Martha served: but
Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with
him. 3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of
spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of
Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the
house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

…..Triumphal entry… returns to Bethany
Mark 11:1-11 (KJV) And when they came nigh to
Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount
of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples, 2
And saith unto them, Go your way into the village
over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into
it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man
sat; loose him, and bring him. 3 And if any man say
unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath
need of him; and straightway he will send him
hither. 4 And they went their way, and found the
colt tied by the door without in a place where two
ways met; and they loose him. 5 And certain of them
that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing
the colt? 6 And they said unto them even as Jesus
had commanded: and they let them go. 7 And they
brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments
on him; and he sat upon him. 8 And many spread their
garments in the way: and others cut down branches
off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9 And
they that went before, and they that followed,
cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in
the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed be the kingdom of
our father David, that cometh in the name of the
Lord: Hosanna in the highest. 11 And Jesus entered
into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had
looked round about upon all things, and now the
eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the
twelve.
John 12:12-32 (KJV) 12 On the next day much people
that were come to the feast, when they heard that
Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 Took branches of
palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried,
Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh
in the name of the Lord. 14 And Jesus, when he had
found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, 15
Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh,
sitting on colt. 16 These things understood not his
disciples at the first: but when Jesus was
glorified, then remembered they that these things
were written of him, and that they had done these
things unto him. 17 The people therefore that was
with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave,
and raised him from the dead, bare record. 18 For
this cause the people also met him, for that they
heard that he had done this miracle. 19 The
Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive
ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone
after him. 20 And there were certain Greeks among
them that came up to worship at the feast: 21 The
same came therefore to Philip, which was of
Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir,
we would see Jesus. 22 Philip cometh and telleth
Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. 23
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come,
that the Son of man should be glorified. 24 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall
into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it
die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth
his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life
in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If
any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am,
there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me,
him will my Father honour. 27 Now is my soul
troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from
this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice
from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and
will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that
stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered:
others said, An angel spake to him. 30 Jesus
answered and said, This voice came not because of
me, but for your sakes. 31 Now is the judgment of
this world: now shall the prince of this world be
cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the
earth, will draw all men unto me.

Curses fig tree, returns to Jerusalem
Mark 11:12-19 (KJV) 12 And on the morrow, when they
were come from Bethany, he was hungry: 13 And seeing
a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply
he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to
it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of
figs was not yet. 14 And Jesus answered and said
unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for
ever. And his disciples heard it. 15 And they come
to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and
began to cast out them that sold and bought in the
temple, and overthrew the tables of the
moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold
doves; 16 And would not suffer that any man should
carry any vessel through the temple. 17 And he
taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My
house shall be called of all nations the house of
prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 18 And
the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought
how they might destroy him: for they feared him,
because all the people was astonished at his
doctrine. 19 And when even was come, he went out of
the city.
Luke 19:41-48 (KJV) 41 And when he was come near, he
beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If
thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy
day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now
they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall
come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a
trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep
thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even
with the ground, and thy children within thee; and
they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another;
because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast
out them that sold therein, and them that bought; 46
Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the
house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of
thieves. 47 And he taught daily in the temple. But
the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of
the people sought to destroy him, 48 And could not
find what they might do: for all the people were
very attentive to hear him.
13th Nisan Monday night/Tuesday (one day to Passover &
2 days to unleavened bread) returns Jerusalem,
questioned by Priests, Supper with Simon & second
anointing.
Mark 11:20-33 (KJV) 20 And in the morning, as they
passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the
roots. 21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith
unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou
cursedst is withered away. 22 And Jesus answering
saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I
say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this
mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the
sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall
believe that those things which he saith shall come
to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them. 25 And when ye stand
praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that
your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you
your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive,
neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive
your trespasses. 27 And they come again to
Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple,
there come to him the chief priests, and the
scribes, and the elders, 28 And say unto him, By
what authority doest thou these things? and who gave
thee this authority to do these things? 29 And Jesus
answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you
one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by
what authority I do these things. 30 The baptism of
John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me. 31
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we
shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye
not believe him? 32 But if we shall say, Of men;
they feared the people: for all men counted John,
that he was a prophet indeed. 33 And they answered
and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus
answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by
what authority I do these things.
Mark 14:1-9 (KJV) After two days was the feast of
the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief
priests and the scribes sought how they might take
him by craft, and put him to death. 2 But they said,
Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the
people. 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon
the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman
having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard
very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it
on his head. 4 And there were some that had
indignation within themselves, and said, Why was
this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have
been sold for more than three hundred pence, and
have been given to the poor. And they murmured
against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why
trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7 For ye have the poor with you always, and
whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye
have not always. 8 She hath done what she could: she
is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel
shall be preached throughout the whole world, this
also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a
memorial of her.
Luke 22:1 (KJV) Now the feast of unleavened bread
drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
Mark 14:1 (KJV) After two days was the feast of the
passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief
priests and the scribes sought how they might take
him by craft, and put him to death.
Ambiguity Passover or Feast of Unleavened Bread? In
Babylonian captivity the Passover Lamb was killed
daytime 14th Nisan and eaten as the Haggadah High
Holy meal on the eves of 14th &15th Nisan. The
daytime of the 14th was a preparation day for the
frast of Unleavened Bread.
Luke 22:7-13 (KJV) 7 Then came the day of unleavened
bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he
sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the
passover, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him,
Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10 And he said unto
them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city,
there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of
water; follow him into the house where he entereth
in. 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the
house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the
guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my
disciples? 12 And he shall shew you a large upper
room furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went,
and found as he had said unto them: and they made
ready the passover.
Mark 14:12-18 (KJV) 12 And the first day of
unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his
disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go
and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? 13
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith
unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet
you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. 14
And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the
goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the
guest chamber, where I shall eat the passover with
my disciples? 15 And he will shew you a large upper
room furnished and prepared: there make ready for
us. 16 And his disciples went forth, and came into
the city, and found as he had said unto them: and
they made ready the passover. 17 And in the evening
he cometh with the twelve. 18 And as they sat and
did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of
you which eateth with me shall betray me.
It is now Tuesday evening going into the next day.
14th Nisan Tuesday night/Wednesday Last Supper or
Passover( between eves of 13/14 Nisan as Exodus
12:6). Gethsemane dusk on 14th Nissan. Arrested in
night, 6 nighttime illegal trials; Crucified at 9 am
died at 3:30 buried 6pm.
John 13:1-5 (KJV) Now before the feast of the
passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come
that he should depart out of this world unto the
Father, having loved his own which were in the
world, he loved them unto the end. 2 And supper
being ended, the devil having now put into the heart
of Judas Iscariot, son, to betray him; 3 Jesus
knowing that the Father had given all things into
his hands, and that he was come from God, and went
to God; 4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his
garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5
After that he poureth water into a bason, and began
to wash feet, and to wipe them with the towel
wherewith he was girded.
Luke 22:45-48 (KJV) 45 And when he rose up from
prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them
sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why
sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into
temptation. 47 And while he yet spake, behold a
multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the
twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus
to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas,
betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
Luke 22:50-56 (KJV) 50 And one of them smote the
servant of the high priest, and cut off his right
ear. 51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus
far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. 52 Then
Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of
the temple, and the elders, which were come to him,
Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and
staves? 53 When I was daily with you in the temple,
ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is
your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 Then took
they him, and led him, and brought him into house.
And Peter followed afar off. 55 And when they had
kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were
set down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 But
a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and
earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was
also with him.
Trials:
1. before Chief Priest’s father-in-law, Annas (John
18:12-14)
2. before Chief Priest, Caiaphas and Sanhedrin (John
18:24; Matthew 26:57-68)
3. official before Sanhedrin ( to make it “legal”)(Luke
22:66-71; Matthew 27:1-2; Mark 15:1)
4. before Pilate (sent to Herod) Luke 23;1-7)
5. before Herod (Jesus mocked) (Luke 23:6-11)
6. before Pilate (Jesus scourged, “I find this man
innocent) Luke 23:13-25)
Luke 23:44-47 (KJV) 44 And it was about the sixth
hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth
until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened,
and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said,
Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and
having said thus, he gave up the ghost. 47 Now when
the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God,
saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
Matthew 27:45-55 (KJV) 45 Now from the sixth hour
there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth
hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a
loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that
is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken
me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they
heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. 48 And
straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and
filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and
gave him to drink. 49 The rest said, Let be, let us
see whether Elias will come to save him. 50 Jesus,
when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded
up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple
was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and
the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52And the
graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints
which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves
after his resurrection, and went into the holy city,
and appeared unto many. 54Now when the centurion,
and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the
earthquake, and those things that were done, they
feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of
God. 55And many women were there beholding afar off,
which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto
him:
Mark 15:33-39 (KJV) 33 And when the sixth hour was
come, there was darkness over the whole land until
the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried
with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama
sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my
God, why hast thou forsaken me? 35 And some of them
that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he
calleth Elias. 36 And one ran and filled a spunge
full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him
to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether
Elias will come to take him down. 37 And Jesus cried
with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38 And the
veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to
the bottom. 39 And when the centurion, which stood
over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave
up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of
God.
John 19:30-31 (KJV) 30 When Jesus therefore had
received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and
he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 31 The
Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that
the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the
sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,)
besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and
that they might be taken away.
Tuesday was a preparation day as the eves of
Wednesday & Thursday was a beginning of the High
Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the
Pascal Lamb was to be the Haggadah meal.
John 19:38-42 (KJV) 38 And after this Joseph of
Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly
for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might
take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him
leave. He came therefore, and took the body of
Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at
the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a
mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound
weight. 40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and
wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the
manner of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place
where he was crucified there was a garden; and in
the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man
yet laid. 42 There laid they Jesus therefore because
preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
Matthew 27:57-65 (KJV) 57 When the even was come,
there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph,
who also himself was disciple: 58 He went to Pilate,
and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded
the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had
taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen
cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he
had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great
stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 61
And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary,
sitting over against the sepulchre. 62 Now the next
day, that followed the day of the preparation, the
chief priests and Pharisees came together unto
Pilate, 63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that
deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three
days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that
the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest
his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and
say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so
the last error shall be worse than the first. 65
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way,
make it as sure as ye can.
Mark 15:42-46 (KJV) 42 And now when the even was
come, because it was the preparation, that is, the
day before the sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an
honourable counsellor, which also waited for the
kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto
Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate
marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto
him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been
any while dead. 45 And when he knew it of the
centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 And he
bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped
him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which
was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the
door of the sepulchre.
Luke 23:50-56 (KJV) 50 And, behold, there was a man
named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man,
and a just: 51 (The same had not consented to the
counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a
city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the
kingdom of God. 52 This man went unto Pilate, and
begged the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down,
and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre
that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was
laid. 54 And that day was the preparation, and the
sabbath drew on. 55 And the women also, which came
with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld
the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. 56 And
they returned, and prepared spices and ointments;
and rested the sabbath day according to the
commandment.
Jesus was in the grave 3 days (3 daytimes and 3
nighttimes.) just as Jonah.
Matthew 12:40 (KJV) 40 For as Jonas was three days
and three nights in belly; so shall the Son of man
be three days and three nights in the heart of the
earth.

Sabbath) …eve &day at sunset.
Leviticus 23:4-8 (KJV) 4 These are the feasts of the
LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall
proclaim in their seasons. 5 In the fourteenth day
of the first month at even is passover. 6 And on the
fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of
unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must
eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day ye shall
have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile
work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made
by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day
is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work
therein.
16th Thursday hs/ Friday ..Preparation day for
weekly Sabbath. 2eve &2 days at sunset.
17th Friday night/ Saturday .. Erev Shabbot & Sabbath
……3 eves & 3 days at sunset.
Matthew 28:1-2 (KJV) In the end of the sabbath, as
it began to dawn toward the first day of the week,
came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the
sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great
earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from
heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the
door, and sat upon it.
Mark 16:9 (KJV) 9 Now when Jesus was risen early the
first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary
Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Luke 24:1-3 (KJV) Now upon the first day of the
week, very early in the morning, they came unto the
sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had
prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they
found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3
And they entered in, and found not the body of the
Lord Jesus.
John 20:1 (KJV) The first day of the week cometh
Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the
sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the
sepulchre.
What did they see that made them believe?
Mark 16:5-8 (KJV) 5 And entering into the sepulchre,
they saw a young man sitting on the right side,
clothed in a long white garment; and they were
affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not
affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was
crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the
place where they laid him. 7 But go your way, tell
his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you
into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said
unto you. 8 And they went out quickly, and fled from
the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed:
neither said they any thing to any man; for they
were afraid.
John 20:3-9 (KJV) 3 Peter therefore went forth, and
that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. 4 So
they ran both together: and the other disciple did
outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. 5 And
he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen
clothes lying; yet went he not in. 6 Then cometh
Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7 And
the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with
the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place
by itself. 8 Then went in also that other disciple,
which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and
believed. 9 For as yet they knew not the scripture,
that he must rise again from the dead.
